Tue 21-Apr-09 (Holocaust Memorial day, plenty of time at hospital)

Just before heading off to the hospital for a long day, the sirens sounded across the country at 10:00am as it is Yom Hashoah. Two minutes silence was observed in memory of the Holocaust victims.

We started at the hospital with a blood test (results continue to be good) and had separate meetings with the Radio-oncologist and our Neurosurgeon (Director of Neuro-oncology). We are just so blessed by the professional and caring people who manage Maria’s situation. Isaac took us for lunch in between and gave us a rundown of the hospital as we have come to know it quite well and the size of it is amazing. It employees 7,500 people and is the largest hospital not only in Israel, but also the Middle East and Mediterranean. They have 72 specialised buildings and plenty of more land to continue building. It’s like its own little city. There are patients from all over the world travelling there for different types of treatment. Again, we’re blessed!

Maria had to wait around to be squeezed into radiotherapy. The kids got to watch ‘Bolt’ at their friends’ house and had a ball. When we came home I made a special candlelit dinner for Maria and the kids. They collapsed into bed.
