Sun 5-Apr-09 (treatment schedule, Maria’s mum arrives, another sleepover)

Maria’s mum (‘Mama’) arrived in the morning. We were all very happy to see her. She came bearing many gifts. This was a special time for mother/daughter.

The kids went out for a play date with friends (thanks Galit), which turned into a sleepover. With all the disruption it was nice to give them this flexibility as we have both been on their case quite a bit in the last few days.

Received our schedule for remainder of the treatment, which is not that favourable as they are mostly @ 6:20pm, which cuts into key time with the kids and hitting peak traffic in our travels to/from the hospital. The benefit is that it’s generally quiet at the hospital so I can park close to the Cancer Centre and there aren’t masses of people around. We are starting to see ‘regulars’ receiving treatment as we also become part of that group. Maria has started developing a rapport with one lady.

Met with head of Radio-oncology. Part of the discussion involved tapering off of the steroids to see whether it would have any impact on her head pain with the aim of helping her sleep. Watch this space...
