Thu 26-Mar-09 (therapy feedback, sleep - more/less)

Maria finished her second treatment this evening. Both yesterday and today's sessions were so quick (yesterday's was the longest because it was the first time), it almost seemed like she didn't have time to get into the room and be treated. Maria has found it an interesting, yet noisy experience.

Maria had five straight hours of sleep after last night's 'first' therapy. As it was only day 1, it's difficult to attribute the sleep to the treatment this early. We'll see how tonight goes. As we move into 'daylight saving time' at 2:00am, unfortunately we lose an hour's sleep this evening. This is something Maria can do without.

We had a physio (Diana) do a home visit today. She was really nice, professional, caring and holistic in her approach to discussing treatment for Maria while throwing in some tips for my own issue (neck disc) as I can't afford to be ill or disabled in any way. She was able to work on Maria's neck and loosen her up a little, for which was grateful.

Maria does not receive radiotherapy on Fridays & Saturdays, but will continue to take the chemotherapy drug at home. On Sunday night we are going to take the kids with us so they can be part of the experience. I'm sure they won't be bored on this excursion as there is a McDonalds in the mall on the hospital grounds (we'll have a special dinner treat), a kids play area with computers in the Cancer Centre, and as mentioned the treatment is over in what feels like an instant.

We're all pretty exhausted, but am happy to be into this phase of treatment.
