Today the weather was lovely, but a bit windy. We went to the nearby Apollonia National Park (which we’ve walked to in the past). It overlooks the Mediterranean, was first settled in the 6th century BC, and contains the remains of a Crusader Fortress, which was taken by the Mamelukes in the 13th century. The reason for the visit was to see the wildflowers that start to blossom. I took a few photos, but as you can see probably didn’t do it sufficient justice.

Afterwards we went to our local beach ice creamery, which was a nice way to finish off the outing. After lunch Ben and I went out to buy him some new sports shoes (his recently acquired ones disappeared, feared stolen). He also went to the local Toys-R-Us to buy himself (with his own money) a new sword and gun…boys will be boys.

Maria continues to struggle with broken sleep and ongoing head pain, which we really want to resolve as it’s now 3.5 weeks after the operation—you can only blame things on post-operative pain for so long. We have even elevated her steroid dose (she is already on an amazingly high dose), but that doesn’t seem to have made any difference.
As mentioned in an earlier entry, tomorrow is the day when there will be calls and pressure asserted to get things moving towards treatment commencement by the end of the week. Please keep this situation in your prayers.
