Sat 13-Jun-09 (An afternoon tea with loved ones)

Today was another day where we were blessed by others in a BIG way at such an important time. Our dear friend Vivienne and a team of people prepared their church building in such a beautiful way, creating the perfect atmosphere for us to mingle with many of our dear friends from Canberra. Illness kept some people away, which I know was a challenge for them not being able to see Maria. At the same time I appreciate their sacrifice to ensure Maria is fully fit prior to her surgery.

Maria felt it important to see the maximum number of people in one go for two reasons: (1) She is become more fatigued each day. (2) She is fully aware of the risks faced with this surgery, not knowing how she'll come out at the other end.

As I wrote to those involved in today's organisation, since commencing this rough patch in our journey less than four months ago, we have been privileged to be on the receiving end of many acts of kindness. We have watched Christ’s light shine like a powerful beacon in the night. Today was no exception.

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:45
